Testing language quality across 20+ global markets

Understand language quality across core products and evaluate how translation quality impacts brand perception and product use.

ABOUT CASE STUDY

Bold Insight leveraged their global partnerships within the UXalliance to conduct concurrent studies across markets. In this particular study more than 20 UXalliance partners explored user satisfaction with language quality, assessing core product language quality and its impact on brand perception and product use.

THE CHALLENGE

The project challenge was to:

- Understand language quality across core products

- Evaluate how translation quality impacts brand perception and product use

ACTIVITY

Each study involved kickoff, recruit, fieldwork, and reporting phase within the local market. In each market, in-depth interviews were conducted with native speakers who gave language-related feedback on product language quality. Study design accounted for adherence to GDPR requirements and country-specific regulations regarding participant data privacy and permissions. Overall, more than 230 test participants have been involved in the study.

RESULTS

The outcome of this program of research provided client product teams with in-depth insights into the quality and impact of translation processes for localized versions of their products. Studies in each market identified unique challenges experienced by local users and provided contextual opportunities for improving language quality across products.
